Description: A gilt-bronze figure of Bodhisattva was casted in Tang dynasty.
It was preserved rarely with original assemblies. Without any restorations, the Bodhisattva posed in a gesture of fear-not(abhaya mudra).
The stand was casted in a shape of a bud of lotus and with flouring floral motifs which had a likeness of Pala style of India from where the Buddhism was originated and was introduced to China in the 6th century.
The patina of the halo and bud-shape stand was different from the figure himself. It was because of the figure, halo and the stand were excavated dispersedly, and the figure had been cleaned for better looking. Judging from the matching holes of the halo and the stand to the tenons, it is believed that they were in one set.
Glued work had been done to the tenon section of the stand for fastening.
A custom-made silk box is included.
Date: Tang dynasty(AD613-907).
Condition: perfect with left gild in the pleats.
Height: 12cm
