An archaic bronze seal was in a fine look.
By an arc loop as the knob, the seal was cast in a square shape with slanting surface on four sides.
On the printing side, four Chinese archaic(Xiao Zhuan) characters were finely cast.
It reads as JIN DU YIN XIN-the Seal of Jin Du. Jin du is also called Louyang, the capital of Song Dynasty. So it was probably an official seal.
By imitating atmosphere of Han bronze seals, this seal was dated as a Song piece also by:
1, The size was much bigger than Han pieces which were almost within 2cm.
2, The knob rest on top was much smaller in proportion when Han pieces’ loop would be across from one side to another.
3,The metal quality was much good than the ones from earlier periods.

All these can be strong evidences for dating this amusing piece.
Of course, the enduring old verdigris and the darken blackish patina on the surface were in obvious characteristics for bronze pieces being transformed from Song periods.

Date: Song Dynasty,960-1279.

Dimension: 3.4cm x 3.4cm x 2.4cm
