Vtg. 1949 Pluto Figurine by Evan K. Shaw /American Pottery (California) A very hard to find Evan K. Shaw or American Pottery Pluto laying down and sniffing. Evan K. Shaw of American Pottery got the license from Disney in 1943 to make their characters. He subsequently bought Metlox Pottery . “ Known variously over the years as American Pottery, Evan K. Shaw Company and Metlox, this pottery company produced Disney figures from about 1943 through 1955. They made licensed Disney and Warner Brothers figures during 1940s when Vernon Kilns discontinued its Disney line.” Measures 6” long x 3¼ ” tall. Condition is excellent; any problems seem to be as they came from the factory (dog’s tail painted out of the lines). No crazing. Color is good which is more of a flesh color as they made them than the yellow we are used to seeing.
