Extremely R-A-R-E Heubach figure of twin baby boys sitting in what the books say is supposed to be a bird's nest. Totally charming & realistic, not to mention the modeling is simply the best, as well the handpainting is first rate. Everything about this piece is phenomenal ~ haunting doll-like faces the kind one sees on dolls from the 1800's ~ complete with intaglio eyes, molded teeth on one of the twins, sculpted curls, raised enamel beading, blushed cheeks, creamy complexions, chubby arms, hands, toes, fingers, and gorgeously sculpted realistic-looking bird's nest. Made of bisque porcelain. Unmarked but guaranteed to be Heubach, 19th century, approximately 5.25" high x 5.25" long x 4.50" wide, excellent vintage condition (practically mint), just a bit dirty is all ~ what a treasure to find in such phenomenal condition!
FYI: this same rare piece, which is also unmarked, can be seen in the book Parlour Fancies: the bisque figurines of Gebruder Heubach. There is another identical, listed on the net for 2,000 dollars!
