Marked BURKEE on the back. Has some tarnish and minor surface scratches. Interesting piece from a well know Mid Century artisan.

A sterling silver modernist brooch by Phyllis Sklar, American Mid Century jeweler. This brooch has a thick sterling wire overlay with an oval moonstone cabochon on a darkened, oxidized surface. Measures 1 1/4" tall and 1 3/8" at the widest. Has the stylized 'p' hallmark, phyllis and sterling on the back. Nice contrast between the oxidized and shiny sterling layers. Rollover clasp holds securely. Has some minor surface scratches. Classic Phyllis design.

A well crafted sterling silver brooch signed Sterling Handwrought and The Gorham Co. Probably executed by the Chicago silversmith Bjarne Meyer. Beautifully hand hammered silver. Bjarne Meyer did work for Gorham and also worked for Georg Jensen, USA. Measures 1 5/8" across. Has a three dimensional repousse design, possibly a stylized feather or apple. Dark patina, has some tarnish. Fine example of Arts and Crafts silver work.

A rare heavy sterling silver brooch by William Spratling, Taxco. Measures 2 3/4" long and 1 1/8" wide. Marked with the WS in a circle incised mark, Silver Mexico and 925. Has a slight dent to the center and is missing the rollover part of the clasp. A rare find for the collector.

A rare sterling silver and caged raw purple stone brooch by noted jeweler, Arthur King. Probably amethyst. Marked on the back, Sterling King. Measures 2 1/8" across and 2 1/8" tall. There is a light gold wash on the silver. Has a rolling safety clasp that holds tightly. There is a small area on the edge of the stone that is a little rough, may be original. Classic Arthur King design.

A modernist sterling silver brooch by noted NYC mid century jeweler, Sam Kramer, in a stylized 'V' shape with a central copper textured cabochon. Has a three dimensional design. Measures 2 5/8"long and 1 1/2" high. Marked with Sam Kramer's mushroom mark and sterling. Rollover safety clasp holds securely. Has some minor surface scratches and a little tarnish. There is a slight bend at one corner, not sure if it is original. Great MCM design.

Marked with the MIC hallmark and the three crowns silver standard mark used by Anton Michelsen when in Stockholm, Sweden from 1946-63. Also marked with S for the town mark, A9 for 1951 and Engel. A pair of acid etched brass Arts and Crafts period brooches by Marshall Field & Co. Chicago. Larger brooch measures 3 3/8" long and 1 1/2" high. Marked on the back 'Made in Our Craft Shop, Marshall Field & Co.' Smaller brooch measures 2 1/2" across and 2" high. These brooches came together. The smaller one is not marked. Both brooches have 'C' clasps that hold securely. May be purchased as a set or individually.
