A wonderful modernist bar brooch with a braided design by Hector Aguilar. Signed with his conjoined HA, Taxco and 940 for the silver content. Shown on page 150 of Penny Morrill's book, "Silver Masters of Mexico". Measures 2 7/8" across and 1" tall. Has a rollover clasp that holds securely. In very nice condition, has some tarnish and minor surface scratches. Circa 1940. Great stylized design.

A Watercolor by the Listed Artist, Kathryne Hail Travis (1894-1972). Travis was a student of Randall Davey, George Bellows, and Kenyon Cox. Measures about 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" matt opening, overall frame about 21 1/8" by 17 1/8". Titled "Fall Aspens on Mon Jeau", Travis has written that "Pic is watercolor sketch in the field for large oil painting in Texas..." Nice example.

An unusual Silver Metal and Exotic Wood box by Los Castillo, Taxco. Marked Los Castillo Taxco Hecho en Mexico on the underside of the top. Not sure of the silver toned metal, silver plate?, pewter? It is heavy and solid. Stylized design on box probably represents Sagittarius. Measures 4" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1 3/8" high. Nice quality and in great condition.

A classic Mexican silver brooch reminiscent of one of William Spratling's earlier designs. This large brooch is marked Made in Mexico Sterling in raised letters on the back. Rollover clasp holds securely. The three amethyst flowers are in good condition with minor flea bites and a little roughness to some edges. Sterling has a warm patina. Pretty deep purple stones.
