A pair of vintage circa 1955 sterling silver and enamel brooches by Margot de Taxco, (Margot Van Voorhies Carr). One is a dark grey poodle dog, #5686 and the other is a multicolored rooster, #5793. These brooches may be purchased individually or as a pair.

The poodle measures 2 1/4" high and 1 1/8" at the widest. Marked Made in Mexico Sterling, Margot de Taxco and 5686. Also marked with Eagle #16.
The rooster measures 2 1/2" high and 1 5/8" at the widest. Marked Made in Mexico Sterling, Margot de Taxco and 57936. Also marked with Eagle #16. The rooster is pictured on page 147 of "William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance" by Penny Morrill.
The clasps hold securely. They are in very fine condition with only minor tarnish. The enameling is vibrant.
