Original monotype by Matt Phillips (American, born in 1927 in New York City). Signed "Phillips" and dated '82 in pencil l.r. Also indistinctly titled or dedicated l.l. ("For Dede"?) 4 1/2" by 4 1/4" image alone. The full sheet measures roughly 12" by 12". In original never framed condition. Matt Phillips is a master printmaker who taught in Paris, and at Bard College in NYC. He is credited with reviving the monotype technique in the second half of the 20th century. His works are in the permanent collections or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery, the Whitney Museum, the AIC, the Baltimore Museum of Art, etc.
