Gianni Versace's 1991 Pop Art collection with the Andy Warhol prints is considered by most to be the best of his work. (In fact, his sister, Donnatella reprised it---along with the original models--this past season.) The jewelry was basically done for the runway and is very scarce. We were very pleased to get this necklace from the original show. It is a single strand that has a second strand attached mid way on either side. When pulled straight, the necklace measures 19" (48.6 cm). It is chock a block with translucent lucite flowers and leaves and bright transparent round beads in lots of colors. There are also giant beads in orange, pale green and purple that are studded with rhinestones. To add a cherry on top, there are also occasional gold metal discs that are studded with cabochons. It is a riot of color. The necklace has an approximately 2 1/2" (6.6 cm) drop with the two strands in the center. Signed "Gianni Versace Made in Italy," on a plaque at the back, it is in pristine condition.
It is a rare piece of fashion history.
