Goodspeed was a cultural anthropologist with a keen interest in pre-Columbian archeology. She and her artist husband opened a gallery in Taxo, Mexico in the late 1930s and sold his work along with pre-Columbian artifacts. She designed and created jewelry and tableware and sold it through the gallery. Many of Goodspeed's pieces reflect Aztec and Mayan influences.

Blanc de Chine ( white from China ) porcelain is usually associated with Dehua kilns. She was made from a mold, not on a potter's wheel. Incised and applied decorations were added by skilled artisans and the wares are fired at the highest possible temperature. The clay itself is quite unusual, having very little iron oxide in it, which allows for the unusual pure color. The shiny wet looking glaze melded to the porcelain makes it so appealing.
She is 18” tall. The base is 4 ½” inn diameter. From elbow to elbow it is 5”.

The business continued for only a few years after Steneskieu's death in the mid- 1970s. Cadoro pieces are among the finest to be found today, each bearing the imprint of these ingenious gentlemen, who were determined to imbue their jewelry with imaginative designs and a " touch of class".
