This "Swallow" was manufactured & designed by Marcel Boucher Ltd in 1941. Patent 129,842 Marchel Boucher, New York, on October 7 and filed on September 6.

It is rhodium and gold plated metal with rhinestones, of a flying swallow with rhinestones on its head, breast, wings and tail feathers. The back of the brooch is made of rhodium plated metal, the front of gold and rhodium plated metal used as a base for the rhinestone pave. Hallmarked with Pygyrian cap and DesPat'd.

This was probably the first of an extraordinary series of three-dimensional birds made for Saks which marked Boucher's definitive coronation as one of the best designers and manufacturers of costume jewelry. There is also a colored enamel version of this item.
