Very fine Japanese Cloisonne Koro from the late 19th century. Piece is approx 4 1/4" tall (to top of finial) x approx. 5 3/4" in diameter(to end of handles).
There is an incredable amount of work on this piece. Koro is worked in silver wires. The top half of the koro has finely done panels amongst very tightly scrolled cloisons on a black ground. The bottom half of the piece has a wonderful intricate geometric pattern coming up from the base of the koro. Condition is excellent. There is some pitting/enamel pops in the orange area next to one of the handles (last photo). Please keep in mind photos are blown up so you can see all of the above mentioned clearly. No repairs or restoration.
Please note: Vertical lines on black scrolled ground are actually silver wires and part of the design.
