Description:  A rare Chinese Northern Song Dynasty celadon bowl that was made in a Yaozhou kiln during the 11th-12th Century.  A conical form with slightly rounded sides and everted rim on a short foot and covered overall with a deep bubble suffused olive glaze slightly pooling in the interior. It is fully glazed with the exception of the neatly trimmed foot-rim which is unglazed.  This eye-catching plain bowl relies solely on its elegant form, painstakingly precise potting, and gleaming olive-green glaze to capture your appreciation. Such simple but classic works-of-art demonstrate the reason for the appeal of the monochrome wares of Song dynasty China.

A similar bowl excavated at the Yaozhou kilns was exhibited in Osaka, and is published by the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, in Chugoku Toji Shirizu-Yoshugama no Seiji, 1991, p. 18, no. 50. Another similar bowl is illustrated in The Masterpieces of Yaozhou Ware, Osaka, 1997, p. 44, no. 55.

Dimensions:  This bowl measures approximately 4.375 inches (11.1 cm) in Diameter and 1.875 (4.9 cm) High.

Condition of this item:  This perfect bowl is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. NO CHIPS! NO CRACKS!  NO RESTORATION!
