Lovely Victorian 18K cluster ring with 14 outside diamonds marking the border and 3 larger old mine cut diamonds at the center. The diamonds are set in silver, as was the custom of the day (it was felt that the cool tones of silver set off the cool tones of diamonds more attractively). The diamonds are a-jour meaning the ring is open "to the day" (open backed and accessible to the light) as shown in the photos. This ring can be worn and enjoyed everyday and is not just a "special occasion" ring. We love the unusual oval shape of the cluster, as most diamond cluster rings are round. There is a small amount of ornamentation on the gold band with gold "festoons" just below the diamonds and a small gold "band " detail at each side. The ring is magnificent in its simplicity. Can be worn with other rings or alone. The cluster ring is a size 8 ½.
