Uniquely modern in its design, this memorial ring commemorates Englishman Thomas Parr, an official of the East India Company who was killed in 1807 in an attack by local villagers in the town of Bencoolen where he and his family had taken up residence (now Benkulu, Indonesia). The lettering is inscribed on an enamel ground with gold edging and delicate strips of along the band. The rectangular bezel is set on an enamel ground with a gold border and reads in gold uppercase block letters: T. PARR OB. 23 DEC. 1807 AE:39”. US size 8.5
