This early Center Medallion quilt has similarities to its English counterparts but was virtually certainly made in this country. It is interesting that the binding was done by two methods. Part of it is the European knife edge technique and the remainder with the front turned over to the back as is usually seen in this country. Wild Goose Chase; Zig zag; Diamonds and the central Mariner's Compass are beautifully combined as are the large variety of printed fabrics. They date from the 18 teens to perhaps as late as 1830's. It is in excellent condition; measurements are 88" x 92". Quilted throughout with diamonds pattern.
