This Baskets quilt is actually pieced as many traditional baskets are but the placement of color makes it an unusual variation. The body of the Basket looks like a Flying Geese pattern because the white triangles are on the outside and it doesn't have the blue to give the appearance of an outline. Whether this was intentional or not, we will never know but it makes for a very interesting pattern. The Wild Goose Chase border is a good anchor for the open, airy pattern.
The quilt is in pristine, un-used condition. The off blocks are quilted with wreaths and a cable pattern in the border.
Measurements are 75" x 76"; made circa 1920. It is from the same family as several other quilts recently posted. See items: 1380347; 1379909;1378600 and 1378425.
