Farmer's Delight is a pattern almost always originating in Virginia and most often in the Shenandoah Valley. It also goes by the name Farmer's Fancy. This early example is beautifully quilted with concentric clamshell patterns that have also been seen in other Farmer's Delights. It has been professionally laundered and is in spotless condition. The background fabric is slightly creamier in color than the medallions in which the circles are set. With very close examination, one can find several darned places in the red triangles and very slight popping in areas. They are evident only with considerable searching. A small mend with a different fabric can be seen in one of the border triangles in the last thumbnail photo. The fabrics date from the 1830's to no later than the 1850's. Found in Arlington, Virginia. Measurements are 80" x 84".
