This unusual Album/Sampler quilt was made in the 1880's in the area of Rhinebeck, New York. The probable maker is Mary Mosher whose name is in the center block.
Each of the blocks has an embroidered name. Extensive information is available about each of the individuals included on the quilt. In several instances, the block pattern corresponds with the person's vocation. Nelson Haver, for instance, was a banker and real estate broker. His block depicts a bank. Alonzo Mosher raised horses and his block shows a prancing horse and farm wagon.
The quilt is in excellent condition. There are some minor spots on the back but they do not show on the front. Measurements are 76" x 84".
