This Mennonite quilt from Lancaster, Pennsylvania takes the traditional Oakleaf pattern to an entirely new level. The five Oakleaf blocks alternate with diamond blocks that create a continuous overall pattern when seen from afar. Double sawtooth borders create the effect of the Tree Everlasting pattern. The quilt is in excellent; unwashed condition. It is well quilted with wreaths in the green blocks and cable patterning in the wide green border. Stitching in the red blocks echoes the appliqued leaves. Measurements are 78" x 81". Lancaster County, Mennonite origin; circa 1880's.
