This Thousand Pyramids quilt is special on two counts.
It is a Charm Quilt in that no fabric is repeated. More unusual is that it is documented to be from the Wycoff-Bennett Homestead in Brooklyn, New York. The Homestead is believed to have been built before 1766; it is a national historic landmark.
The Homestead has had three owners in its 250 year history. A New York Times article in 2010 quotes the late owners, Annette and Stuart Mont as saying that they did not acquire any of the artifacts in the house. They purchased it with all of the furnishings intact so it is safe to say that this Charm Quilt was made at the Brooklyn homestead.
The quilt is in excellent condition. It measures 72" x 78"; made circa 1870's.
