One might argue as to what type of leaf this quilt is meant to depict. Two possibilities are sweet gum and marijuana. In any case, the quilt forms a wonderful abstract pattern that includes small stuffed appliqued berries. It is is an unusual combination of fine and funky.
The quilt is stitched with concentric arcs. The combination of quilting pattern and very slight thickness to the batting lead me to believe it is of Southern origin. It was probably made in the late 19th century. The green was likely a home dyed fabric as the leaves vary in color. The quilt is in excellent condition; unlike any I have seen. Measurements are 65" x 76".
