This most unusual Ohio Amish quilt might go by either the name Star of the East or North Star. In either case, the six point star presents a powerful image. It is especially dramatic done on a black ground with two shades of blue creating three dimensionality to the star. The quilt is in pristine condition. The black field is quilted with diagonal crosshatching, parallel lines and feathered wreaths. The royal blue inner border has oval leaves and fans in the outer border. Quilting with light thread makes its appearance very prominent. The backing is navy blue. The quilt is illustrated in "Quilts of Illusion" by Laura Fisher.
Made 1920's; Holmes County, Ohio origin. Measurements are 66" x 75".
