New York Beauty is a quilt pattern that never ceases to amaze for its many variations.
The colors on this example are especially warm and rich. The Nine Patch (actually Puss in the Corner) intersections are a touch I have not seen. The colors have softened a bit but remain strong and vibrant. Quilting is done with circles around the main blocks and diamonds within the centers.
Measurements are 72" x 74. There are some spots of color loss on the back but the front is without issues. The backing is probably a home dyed fabric.
Made circa 1880's; probably Southern origin.
