Thank you for your interest - check out my other items! More about Steuben I grew up in Steuben County, New York, where Steuben Glass was manufactured for over a century (in Corning, NY). They made colorful glass objects such as lamp shades, sconces, and vases. In the mid 1900s, they perfected a new form of brilliant, clear lead glass crystal. Steuben always maintained a superior standard of quality. If a defect was discovered at any point in the creation process, the piece would immediately be sent back to the furnace to be melted down and the process was started over. It's because of this high set of standards (in addition to the obvious benefit of working with world-renowned designers and artists) that Steuben enjoyed such prestige and success. Steuben pieces were often the gift of choice when intending to impress, and recipients included dignitaries like Prince Charles and Lady Diana as well as leaders like Pope Benedict. As an interesting side note, the glass slipper in the Cinderella Castle Suite at Disney World was made by Steuben Glass. In 2008, Steuben was acquired. The company closed its doors in 2011. As a result, these pieces are no longer in production and are becoming more and more difficult to find and acquire.
