Very large and powerful Tibetan fierce deity. Stands an impressive 18 inches tall, 19 inches on custom stand. I believe this piece may have once looked very different, and may have gone through a fire or other disaster (likely as part of the cultural revolution in the 1960's). I think it may have been extensively repaired using copper from other damaged sculptures. I say this because the body is so massive and thick, and almost seems to have extra mass beyond what a normal torso with 2 arms and 2 legs and a head would have contained. It is possible it was originally made this way as a one of a kind piece. I do believe all parts except the bottom are 18/19thC (and probably 18thC). Amazing face on the animal in his hair. Also, all the faces in the small faces/skulls are finely done- a sign of a true quality piece. Missing arms and one foot. Other condition issues as shown in photos. Overall piece very solid, and easily as beautiful and impressive as shown in the photos- it really is hard to convey the presence this piece imparts. It lights up the entire room with good and lively energy like few other statues. It seems to make people smile. The overall thing is massive- hard to convey in photos-one of the largest Tibetan pieces I have offered for sale.
