Large Tupelo (Nyssa grandidentata) Plate #112 from the work "The North American Sylva..." by Francois Andre Michaux, the American Edition published in 1857. These are hand finished Colored engravings. The plates measure 10.5" x 7". This plate reads Pl. 112 in upper right, Bessa del. in the bottom left, Large Tupelo Nyssa grandidentata at bottom center, and Joly Sculp. at the bottom right. The Title Page reads: "The North American Sylva; or, the Description of the Forest Trees of the United States, Canada, and Nova Scotia. Considered Particularly with Respect for their Use in the Arts and Their Introduction into Commerce. To Which is added A Description of the Most Useful of the European Forest Trees.
