Krishna Reddy (Indian-American, born 1925)
Limited Edition metal clad resin sculpture.
Signed and dated: "1969"
10.5" x 14" x 3" deep
Reddy was born in India where he received his Fine Arts diploma. In 1947 he participated in the “Quit India” movement by painting hundreds of posters and surreptitiously pasting them on walls and buildings. He attended the Slade School of Arts in London and then studied in Paris at Atelier 17. While in Paris he met the Surrealists and Abstract Expressionists, including Brancusi and Giacometti. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin and was Director of the Dept. Of Graphics and Printmaking at NYU. He is considered a master in intaglio printmaking though he has claimed that sculpture is his love.
