Mangione’s favored media were oils and acrylics. She described her paintings as vignettes that border on the surreal. Among her favorite subjects was crumpled paper caught in a breeze. Mangione’s paintings have been shown extensively, including at the Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and other museums across the country. She was the sister of the jazz musician and composer Chuck Mangione.
