An original 1979 acrylic on paper painting created with fluorescent and phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark paints by contemporary American artist Tom Bacher (Cincinnati, Ohio, 1951 -). Bacher is best-known for creating expansive landscapes and cityscapes using these glowing paints that change after various amounts of time left in a dark setting. Tom Bacher was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1951. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. His working medium of phosphorescent crystals suspended in acrylic paints creates a unique experience for the viewer, as his paintings become illuminated in the dark. Bacher’s studies of city lights and sunsets are ideal subjects for this innovative medium. His work is represented in many public collections around the United States, and he has exhibited his work around the world. Bacher resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
