A glorious and monumentally scaled vintage Mexican silver brooch expertly created in the Old World smithing technique of repousse, Mexico City, ca. 1930s-40s. Mexico City was a cultural and artistic center. Lively, brilliant, energetic pieces were created across mediums, including silver. This fully hallmarked Elena piece is just such an example ~ with its large scale and intriguing flower spray. Measures 3” by 2 1.2”. In fine vintage condition with a richly latinizado silver surface. A glorious piece that makes me feel a kinship to Rosa Covarrubias, Nahum Olin, and the intensely interesting landscape of 1930s Mexico City.
