Important and rare double statue of seated Bodhisattva and standing Saint - Lohan. It could be a ridge tile , Earthenware with molded and carved decoration and three-color (Sancai) polychrome glaze. Possibly Ming (15th-16th centuries) origin Hebei or Shanxi province.
The graceful Budhisattva portrayed seated in dhayanasana on a free form rock above the waves, wearing loosely draped robes that open at the chest to reveal beaded necklaces, crowned with an elaborated headdress . Behind there are books and vase, above her with dragon roof decorations. On the back side, surprisingly stands a handsome male bearded figure, with civic official robe and jeweled head dress with halo behind him, with very serious round eyes, holding both of his fists. could he be a saint , Lohan, Damo, or Confucious?
