NIGHTWEAR OF YUMIHAMA-GASURI
'Kaimaki' mingei folk cotton padded nightwear (like a futon with sleeves) covered with hand-woven pongee from Yumigahama area (in Tottori prefecture of today) called 'Yumihama-gasuri' (Yumihama pongee).
Edo-Meiji period, 19th century, Japan.
Quite rare remains as a complete form of nightwear, because such old Yumihama-gasuri had been undone and often appeared as valued handicraft material on the market.
In fine used condition for this type, though with some small holes, small repairs, and stains as seen. approx. From sleeve to sleeve: 129cm (50.78in), Length: 142cm (55.90in), Width: 62cm (24.40in), Thickness: 3cm (1.18in)
