Hanging scroll with the six-character of Buddhist invocation as 'Na-Mu-A-Mi-Da-Butsu' (as 'Namu Amida Butsu') composed of the myriad of small 'Na-Mu-A-Mi-Da-Butsu', written by a monk named 'Myotoku' (or 'Meitoku') while chanting 'Na-Mu-A-Mi-Da-Butsu' by himself. New Year's Day in Meiji 4 (1872), Japan. Some stains and aged deterioration as is. Total: approx. 152 x 43cm (59.84 x 16.92in)
