Wooden 'shokudai' (candlestand) originally used as an 'andon' (lamp with a paper shade) for its cross-shaped bracket arm of upper part. Meiji period (1868-1912), Japan.
Conversely, I think such form of the remains would be more interesting and impressive than the original form. And also, such aged sooted texture is so beautiful as is.
