One of old hand props for the performers of Nihon Buyo (Classical Japanese dance) or Kabuki actors called 'Tenbeni' (lit. 'Upper red'), originated from the customs of 'Yujo (Japanese prostitute) who draw the line with own lipstick on the upper part of love letter to the customers, as a rare type with just wave lines. Showa period, 20th century, Japan. 228 x 20 cm (89.76 x 7.87in). Aged deterioration as is, with stains and rips.
