ORIGIN: West Mexico
AGE: Ca. 300 B. C. - 300 A. D.
SIZE: 7 1/2" in height by 3 1/2" in width
DESCRIPTION: If you look closely you will note that this solid molded figure is sporting a "third leg." He has a shamefaced embarrased look on his face with his right hand covering his mouth. He seems self conscious and sheepish. He is carrying dual bags on his back secured by a tump line. He has applied wide staring round eyes. These humorous figures help bring some comic relief from the violence later evident in the Moche, Maya, and Aztec cultures. Most scholars believe that the Colima people were non-violent and avoided warfare with their neighbors. Human sacrafice happened rarely...if ever! Humor is an integral part of our species and should be practiced more often!
