CULTURE: Colima/Jalisco ORIGIN: West Mexico AGE: CA. 300 B. C. - 300 A. D. SIZE: 6" in height by 3" in width DESCRIPTION: An upright standing male figure with legs akimbo. He is wearing a tall turban headpiece held in place by two circular bands. He is wearing large ear ornaments and a wide necklace. There is light incising on his chest and stomach as well as his back which may represent some form of garment. He has a circular black band around his left leg and there are remnants of the original black pigment remaining on his arms and back. He is dotted with numerous dendrites which help attest to his great antiquity. His face has a long aquiline nose and wide open round eyes. His stance is one of confidence and pride. A fine example of the type.
