A fantastical polychrome four lobed vessel with four conjoined pepinos. The jar is from The North Coast of Peru and dates Ca. 1100 - 1470 A. D. It is a bridge vessel with a single spout. It measures 8 1/2” in height by 6” in width. Design elements are executed in charcoal black. The design includes four black circular elements on each pepino with a raised area in the center as well as black stripes circling the base of each side of the bridge and is adorned with raised birds circling the bridge and a larger avian clinging to the base of the spout. It is a fine example of Chimu creativity at its finest.
