Culture: Chupicuaro / Mexico Age: Ca. 400 A. D. - 100 B. C. Size: 2 1/2" in height by 1 1/4" in width Description: Although tiny, this figure is beautifully formed and detailed. The mother is sitting cross-legged and resting her baby on her lap. She has coffee bean eyes, an aqualine nose, and a deeply incised mouth. She is wearing large ear spools and a wide necklace. She is wearing A long ovoid head cover with her hair extending from the top in a tightly woven bun. The fine detailing on a piece this small is the sign of a very capable artistic hand. She is indeed a fascinating and endearing work of ancient artistry.
