CULTURE: Moche ORIGIN: North Coast / Peru AGE: CA. - 400A.D. - 800A.D. SIZE: 10 1/2" in height by 5" at the widest diameter. DESCRIPTION: A globular phytomorphic bridge-spout vessel in the form of a deeply ridged stylized squash or pumpkin. The base clay is red-brown with indented areas with cream-colored accents. The top of the jar below the spout is painted with a cream colored "bulls eye" circular design with horizontal "S" shaped accents below. PROVENANCE: A private Florida gallery. It is a very sturdy and substantial example of the type.
