CULTURE: Recuay ORIGIN: Peru / North Highlands AGE: Ca. 100 - 600A.D. SIZE: 5" in height by 7 1/2" at the widest diameter DESCRIPTION: A phytomorphic bulbous six sided squash shaped vessel. The body of the vessel is a pale-creamy white with design elements executed in charcoal black. A wide thin lined black band encircles the upper section of the jar and encloses numerous upright and hanging outlines of triangles with small solid black triangles echoing the outlined motifs. The jar has two holes drilled on each side for hanging. It is definitely an unusual and intriguing pottery creation. Recuay pieces are few and far in between.
