A Satsuma Koro signed on the base and decorated with monkeys frolicking among wisteria vines, the scene hemmed by minute frets and wave patterns with a shishi-lion capped hoya lid. Three elegantly tapered legs support the globular body. It is roughly 6-1/2 inches (16 cm) tall and in excellent condition, dating from the Meiji period (late 19th or early 20th century).
