An Art Deco era metal flower basin in the shape of a bird covered in nickel plate from the prestigious Hattori Tokeiten of Tokyo’s Ginza district enclosed in the original padded box dating from the 1930s. It is 24 x 6.5 x 20 cm (9-1/2 x 2-1/2 x 8 inches) and has no damage but ordinary wear to the nickel plate typical of the era.
The Hattori Tokei-Ten was established by forward thinking Hattori Kintaro in the Ginza district of Tokyo in 1881 specializing in imported watches and fine jewelry. It was incorporated in 1917 (K. Hattori & Co., Ltd). The old Hattori watch shop, as a symbol of Ginza, has appeared in many works including the movie "Godzilla" released in 1954. In the scene Godzilla is infuriated by the sound of the bell striking 23:00 and destroys the Hattori Watch Shop. The company developed as a watch manufacturing and wholesale company and a manufacturer of precision equipment, camera parts, electronic parts, and electronic equipment, changing its name to the international brand we know today, Seiko.
