Own this handsome fine, all original antique American classic “Whitney” banjo clock made by the venerable New England clockmaker The New Haven Clock Company of New Haven, Connecticut. This fine piece keeps great time and features two train 8 day movement (signed and hallmarked (New Haven Trade Mark USA #335) chiming on the hour and half-hour, bronze eagle crown, signed clock face (“New Haven - center & New Haven Clock Company USA” bottom)with Arabic chapters, original hand painted glass panels as well as original pendulum and key. First patented in 1802 by brothers Aaron and Simon Willard, the banjo clock was one of the most popular clocks of its time. Clockmaker Hiram Camp formed the New Haven Clock company in 1853 in New Haven and became one of the most successful quality clockmakers in America. Made circa 1927. Dimensions: 32” X 10.125” X 4”.
