A large and beautifully painted cartonnage chest piece from a mummy. It depicts the goddess Isis, wearing a sun disk. Her arms are outstretched, holding a Maat feather, or feather of truth, in each hand. Wonderful color and especially good and attractive style. Approximately 12" wide x 10" high. Intact, except for a small 1 inch piece in the lower left hand corner which has been reattached. The piece is currently protected between two pieces of heavy glass, but can be removed and mounted as desired. Egyptian, Late Period, Ca. 712-323 BC. Provenance- Dr. Bron Lipkin, London, England.
