A lovely large incense burner “Koro” in the shape of black-spotted red rabbit. Raku ware. It bears a seal beneath reads Mokubei. Circa early 20th Century. Rabbit is a symbol of fertility and sensuality. There is a lid on its back with a ventilating hole and the inside of the lid is decorated with gold paint (kindei).
