What a regal look on this French pajama dog! That’s what I loved about him: his expression and his size, which is smaller than most of the Lou Lou dogs so I thought he made for a better companion to my dolls, and he absolutely does. As we expect from the French pajama dogs, he is covered in fine white mohair over stiff cardboard with a wooden block mounting for the head, which should not be moved, there is blue fabric on the bottom and metal zipper.
Originally in France these toy dogs were made to sit on a French lady’s bed and she would put her nightgown inside for safe keeping and then wear it again the next night. That I know of, no one uses them for pajamas any longer, but they make for great doll display as your see Bleuette and her sister playing on him in the last photo for size reference (they are not included in the listing, it is just for the French dog).
This great French toy dog is in good condition for his age with just some of the mohair off the front of the paws but it's not very noticeable in my opinion. I have hand washed him with soap and water when I got him and a few time since but he never had any odors. He’s a great old French dog and looks fabulous with other French dolls or even as originally intended to be displayed on a bed. What I loved about him was not only his great face but the even rarer smaller size that seems almost like it was made for a child’s bedroom.
