A rare necklace from the Deco period that I've had in my collection for many decades. The central pendant is set with many faceted pyrites or Marcasites snowflake design set like Georgian buckles were into a circular red piece that looks like Carnelian but it is I believe an early celluloid, however, I never had it tested. The other beads mid-way along the original black velvet are an early plastic of a slightly different red, They too are set with the faceted stones, which terminate at the closure with the same. The whole of it is all original and not often found.
It is in very good condition for the age, about 1910-1930 and surprising just how good the velvet is, it's hard to tell that it was ever worn (I wore it only once, many, many years ago). There are a few of the tiny silver stones missing, one of the center piece and one on one of the little round beads that I could see. I have tried to show in the photos. A stunning, unique jewel and unlikely one like it will never be found again.
