This is the cutest and most expressive Hilda artist doll that I have ever seen. She was expertly rendered with a cute, inquisitive, toddler look with blue glass eyes that were set, nicely painted lashes and perfect tiny feathered brows. The open mouth shows a set of teeth and just a little bit of a tongue sticking out! In every way, the artist did an excellent job in making this bebe look like an antique. The bisque head is on the original vintage Hilda hard plastic 5-piece toddler body with the little fingers and toes outlined in red. The toddler doll was usually in a sitting position, so typical for the bodies like this, the legs are a bit wobbly if posed without a stand. Her blond wig has been cleaned and styled like the Hilda tot short with bangs. She has had a bath along with her ensemble has been washed and steamed pressed. Her outfit includes a vintage cotton bonnet lined in silk. With it she is wearing a cute cream color silk like (or silk) dress with lace inserts and lace along the collar and ends of the sleeves. Under it she has on a long cotton undershirt (the age stains under the arms did not come out in the wash) with cotton pantaloons. Like a real toddler might be dressed, she displayed without socks or shoes. The pate is glued on, but from what I could see with a flashlight, there are no cracks or breaks or issues. There is a slight paint run on her left cheek which was done in the making and only seen if closely inspected, she was just made this way and there is a couple of tiny dots on the side of her body and on the underside of her big toe, very small. She has an endearing presence with such a cute expression I always smile whenever I look at her! She measures about 18” and is signed on the back of her head by the artist Yolanda 1981.
